The Pine
Ridge Reservation is the poorest area in our nation. Unemployment
exceeds 80%; there are no substantial natural resources to support
the people. Per capita annual income is less than $4000; these Native
Americans are worse off than those in many Third World countries.
Life expectancy is 20 years less and heart disease deaths
are twice as high as in other parts of our country.

St. Francis
Home is a licensed home for abused and neglected children of the
Lakota people. The home offers an environment that promotes physical,
psychological, emotional, cultural, spiritual and social growth
and stability.
